24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring
In the same way of taking your blood pressure, a cuff is attached to your upper arm. However, this cuff is automatically inflated by a computer in regular intervals, to take your blood pressure over a period of 24 hours. To evaluate the results, not only your blood pressure readings are needed. We also need to know, what you were doing at that time.
Physical effort, stress, quarrels, annoyance and anger make blood pressure rise, even in the healthy.
Therefore, you have to keep a record chart about your activities during the recording period. You should include any medication you may be taking.
This test helps us identifying hidden hypertension and evaluating response to blood pressure medication in known hypertension.
