Heart racing and pounding

Usually, symptoms such as heart racing and heart pounding point out to the presence of cardiac arrhythmias (Rhythm disturbance of the heart). These may occur in an isolated form, i.e. without underlying organic heart disease, but may also be triggered off by an underlying serious heart disease.

Atrial fibrillation is a certain form of cardiac arrhythmia that requires special attention, because it may cause strokes, if not recognized and not subjected to proper treatment.
